The Cup

You will hear a lot about the CUP in this journey with the film and the world around it.

The CUP is a ‘Motif’ (a dominant or recurring idea in an artistic work), heavily featured in the film in reference to something very powerful.

In Luke 22:42 Jesus asks if the cup He must drink from might be taken from Him. The pain that was in this cup was almost too much for Him to bear.

We all have a call from God, a destiny that will come with a cost. It will come with a 'cup' of sacrifice to drink from; to move forward into this calling from God, you will have to drink from the cup.

I think we spend our lives circling the cup, warming our hands on it. We look deep inside the cup and dream of what it could be... but we don’t drink from it.

Deep down inside we are holding onto something, something that we believe is the safer, better alternative than what lies head if we were to drink from the Cup.

We instead drink from the wrong cup, the cup of this world that offers a sedative and a slumber to take the easier way. But the sad thing is, the easier way isn’t the better way.

To drink from this cup you need to TRUST. You need to trust that God's will is perfect and that He has a destiny, a calling in your life that is far more than you can imagine. In order to get from the wilderness to the promised land you will first need to drink from the CUP.

What is the CUP in your life? Think about it, pray about it and then drink from it.

Thankfully Jesus drank from THE CUP!

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 2 Corinthian's 4:17
